Stuck for words...

I was reluctant to write about this. But this morning I turned on the television to be faced with the chilling videos made by Cho Seung Hui, the college killer at Virginia Tech.

I feel sick and revolted. I don’t even have words to describe how upset I feel. I had tried to avoid watching the extended news programmes providing us with the details, because for me it’s too much.

In 1996, sixteen school children (five and six year olds) and one teacher were killed in the Dunblane Massacre.

I will never understand why somebody takes the lives of innocent people, especially children; people that they have never met in their lives. But it happens all too often, and it’s devastating, frightening and downright inhumane.

I know it’s written all across the blogosphere, everywhere in the newspapers, the t.v…but my heart truly does go out to those people that have been affected.

I couldn't find the version of this song dedicated to the victims in Dunblane, but I think Avril Lavigne does a pretty good version. The lyrics mean a lot for all of these circumstances.

Its just beyond comprehension. I feel so sorry for the families. All I have to say is the media has to stop this. Too much coverage, leave the families in peace. And stop showing that deranged man on TV, thats probably what he wanted.

Somedays I really hate people. . . .

Well it's true, that's what he wanted. It's time we remember the people who deserved to be remembered. It's just awful, just terrible. From what I could gather, he himself posted the videos and photos of himself to a news channel...what a disgusting act. I wish these people did not kill themselves, taking the easy way out. He should be in jail right now, living a life of hell.

Great post, sweet and tender, it is so horrible...and we shouldn't frget that things like that are just happening all over the world every minute, so terrible things are happening..I don't really understand why....
Just one thing...to think about...
the world would change a lot if everybody would go to the street and smile to each other, just that, just show your best smile...

Apart from that, I have to tell you that I love Edinburgh and Scotland in general, wonderful people, friendly, and incredible place!!!

I had never seen that version of the song before. It is haunting. Seeing all the flags all over the country at 1/2 mast is also a haunting reminder of the evil that was perpetrated on innocents.

Ingrid, thank you and wow someone who has actually been to Scotland! I'm glad you like my country, and my city, me too I love it ^_^

Drew, I feel awful myself, I've been thinking about it all day in fact, but i guess its got to be even more difficult for all of America as a nation.

Does anyone know if anything is going to change because of this? Gun laws changed or anything?

Wow!Thank you very much for your comment, yes, I am really lucky, this is my fourth year teaching English, I teach English, technical English and literature, sometimes, and I did my thesis on a Scottish author, Edwin Muir, that is why I am so fond on Scotland...
This year I have to pass some exams in order to stay at University and I don't know what is going to happen....therefore I quite nervous, because I really love this....I heard there are many opportunities for teaching in Scotland...
Good luck, I will love to hear from you in France...I don't know much french but...
Au revoir, je suis très contente!

About Virginia...It is sad, but I really think this is not going to change..it is not the first time and it is not going to be the last one...what is in human nature? I don't understand it, really....we have a lot of problems, a lot of illnesses we cannot solve...and that is not enough for us...we create wars, destructions...and so on..it is so horrible!

About Edinburgh, if you hadn't breen there, you just have too! it's incredible!

I doubt gun laws will get changed. The NRA has a mighty strong lobbying group.

Something has to change, if nothing changes from this then it will only keep happening...

At least if laws were changed those poor innocent victims would not have died in vain.

Alas while I am not gun freak, if this dude was determined enough, there are enough illicit guns in this country that acquiring one would not be terribly haed. I don't know how further restricting legal carrys will help.

Thats the saddest/sickest part of this whole ordeal, the victims of this tragedy did die senselessly and in vain. For no justifyable reason. Its horrible.

and the problem withit is exactly what one commenter above mentioned, this has happened before, and will again, for no reason. its sad what people do to each other.

I hope us as a people can ge better, but alas history isnt on my side.

Somethings gotta give, it's happening far too often...It shouldn't be happening atall

Well, I sincerely hope that something changes, no matter how small or insignificant it seems...something needs to happen
